ConTemporal 2014 is underway, and there’s even more mood-setting decorations throughout the hotel, music playing, costumes everywhere. Here’s a few photos, including of the massively expanded high tea room:
[caption id=“attachment_3566” align=“alignnone” width=“224”] It wouldn’t be a NC sf convention without Allen Wold, here looking quite dapper. Be warned: he’s carrying a badge.[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3567” align=“alignnone” width=“224”] I admit it. I jumped just a little bit when this little trike’s animatronic motors kicked into life.[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3568” align=“alignnone” width=“224”] Luckily for all concerned, this guy doesn’t move.[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3569” align=“alignnone” width=“300”] Checking badges has rarely been so well-costumed.[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3570” align=“alignnone” width=“300”] Display in the dealer’s room.[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3571” align=“alignnone” width=“224”] Another display in the dealer’s room.[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3572” align=“alignnone” width=“224”] Behind the scenes, Markell in the control room, er, the place where they attempt to manage the chaos.[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3573” align=“alignnone” width=“224”] Care to have your fortune read? 2 bits. Anyone have a bit?[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3574” align=“alignnone” width=“300”] The high tea room is much expanded from last year and looking fantastic.[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3575” align=“alignnone” width=“300”] High tea is served.[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3576” align=“alignnone” width=“224”] One of dozens and dozens of period decorations on the walls throughout the convention.[/caption]
[caption id=“attachment_3578” align=“alignnone” width=“224”] And big thanks to the ConTemporal crew for providing a page to recognize the Manly Wade Wellman Award nominees.[/caption]
All in all, it looks to be another fantastic weekend adrift in time. The story continues…
